PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Eligibility
The new solar rooftop subsidy scheme was finally launched on 13th February 2024.
To benefit from the scheme, one must first ensure if he/she is eligible or not. To do that, one must go through the Official notification and study the guidelines. To help you, we are listing all the important eligibility conditions in this article.
Eligibility Rules for Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
We suggest you to study the eligibility conditions in greater depth because everything depends on it. If you are not eligible, there is no point of everything else. Otherwise, if you are eligible, it becomes clear to you that you can now move forward with the application process.
Here is what we know so far about the eligibility conditions.
1. Property Type
Only Residential households are eligible for solar rooftop installation under this scheme.
2. Rooftop Area
The first important thing is Rooftop Area. As the installation of Solar Rooftop panels is key process under this scheme, one must ensure there is enough space. You should be the legal owner of the building/premises. One more thing to understand is that the required space depends on the capacity (Kw) required.
2. Age Limit
The minimum age of the applicants should be at least 18 years. Supporting documents need to be attached during the application.
3. Income Criteria
Only Citizens belonging to medium and lower classes will be given the benefit of the scheme. If required, you will be asked to present income proof to confirm the conditions. The annual income of the participating family must not exceed 1.5 Lakhs per annum.
4. Aadhaar Linked Bank Account
Applicant’s bank account should be aadhaar linked so that the subsidy amount is transferred seamlessly.
5. Employment
Government employees are not eligible under this scheme. This is self explained because any government employee will have salary more than 1.5 lakhs per annum which will violate the income criteria.
Other Rules
Following people are not eligible.
- People who don’t have required rooftop area.
- People who don’t get considerably high electricity bill per month or have high electricity consumption.
- Those who haven’t linked their bank accounts with aadhaar.
- If you have a shared rooftop, you are not eligible until you have the approval.
